miss jordanne bonfield

a good friend of mine just turned 30. miss jordanne bonfield.  emri and i had the special privilege of making her a cake. actually, i made her a cake while emri went coo coo over the purple frosting. i really enjoy the whole cake decorating thing. i’m hoping that one day i’ll become fantastic at it. it used to be a dream of mine to maybe run a business out of it. but for now, i just really enjoy doing it for friends and family. its such a fun way to celebrate someone. and i think that alone makes it really fulfilling for me.

jordanne is someone i really look up to. she has such a sweet, gentle spirit…but don’t be fooled. she can kick some serious tail when in comes to living out her calling, stepping into her identity, and slugging it out in the Kingdom of God. she is someone you want on your team.  because she is gracious and strong all rolled into one. and ben, emri, and i are all quite fond of her.

i got to snag a picture of jordanne and her little sister, while celebrating her 30th. also included are a few shots of the makings and final result of her birthday cake.

happy 30th birthday, jordanne. enjoy being thirty, you little ninja.

july 4

a little girl with pink, chickadee jammies was staring at me at 3:oo in the morning last night (if that makes any sense). and yes, per usual, it was initially terrifying.

because i can’t seem to resist her frizzy head wanting to snuggle up in our bed at night (which she is well aware of),

i let her snuggle in.

which usually results in ben migrating to emri’s little, butterfly twin bed for the rest of the night as emri and i stretch out and get comfortable.

its not really fair to him, is it?

this morning i told emri that she cannot get in bed with us anymore. this was our conversation that followed.

“mommy did you sleep good?”

“no, i didn’t”

“oh, i’m so so so so berry sorry, mommy. i just wanted to snuggle you for a berry long time lastnight.”

really? what am i supposed to say to that? how do i say no? i think i’ve been had by my 3 year old.

anyhow

fourth of july was fun. here are some pics from the weekend.

little luke

i have a little nephew named luke. he’s our little lukie.

just the sweetest thing you ever did see.

his birthday was last week. and we had a little party for him. celebrating his little life and how much we love him.

i’m reminded of the day he was born. it was pretty stressful. his umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck way too many times for him to have survived.

two years ago my oldest sister, rachel, was 8 months pregnant. she was about to go out of town on a short trip. she hadn’t felt too much movement from little lukie in her womb. rachel’s motherly instincts kicked in. (God’s grace and voice in her life). and she called the doctor.

the doctor on call said it was probably fine but that it might be a good idea to come in and check the heart beat.

rach and josh did immediately.

the doctor heard a strong heart beat but said it wasn’t quite doing what they wanted it to and decided to do an emergency c section.

we all ran up to the hospital and sat nervously in the waiting room. praying. our hearts pounding.

his umbilical cord was wrapped around his tiny neck 3 times. the doctor said that little luke wouldn’t have made it too much longer like that and that rachel coming in early had saved his life. he was born totally healthy.

so luke is our little miracle baby. he was absolutely perfect.

and so tiny.

family is precious. every moment is worth celebrating, don’t you think?

here’s a short video of our party.

happy birthday sweet luke! we love you!

army partay

i love my family. i especially love my niece and nephews.

my oldest nephew, miles, turned 7 a few weeks ago. we had an army party. no big deal. we sort of get into it. we love being together. we particularly love to celebrate birthdays. miles is fun to celebrate because he’s such a sweet kid. when i watch this video, i’m amazed at how much he looks like a teenager. he still lets me grab him and kiss him on the cheek. and then i remember these proverbial images of an aunt smothering her nephew with kisses, leaving red lip prints all over his face and pinching his cheeks. i wonder if i have become that kind of aunt. and is miles rolling his eyes and wiping his face off after i turn around? anyways. miles loves justin beiber. he says he’s got the “beiber fever”. so of course i had to put some justin beiber in this video.

i’m laying here on the couch with a fever. my eyes burn and  my voice sounds like a gremlin. i’m feeling terrible but this video makes me happy.

please enjoy.

happy birthday miles, we love you!
